The coloring is very nice, but the sun is so prominent and the whiteness is quite harsh. As taken, the photograph reminds me of driving into the sun in late afternoon--beautiful, in its way, but very difficult to actually see without feeling overwhelmed by the light. I would suggest taking a shot with the sun just beneath the horizon. That way, you won't have the harsh and distracting white spot. Also, it would allow the orange to taper off into the purple a bit more naturally. Here, the way the orange pops so sharply away from the more muted backdrop is, again, distracting. It appears that the space immediately around the sun was retouched to make it pop, but a softer, more natural look might be more pleasing. The composition, in my opinion, is terrific, and I love the overall serenity of the scene.
